SEZ WHO - "Groovin' Q since '92"
With several of the core members born from a now-classic era in the history of the University of New Mexico Music Department, Sez Who carved a distinct niche in Albuquerque's music scene in the early 90s. Think Sting, Sade, Al Jarreau, Tower of Power, and Santana.
"Milo, Danny, Fig, Lee Taylor, John Bartlit, and I hung out together a lot in college - UNM Jazz was sort of like an informal lab where we all woodsheded - playing with each other and everyone else we could. After 20 years of gigs around the world, there is still no other group of cats I would rather play with!" says Yamaha Drum Artist Ken Lingad.
While all the members of the band have pursued successful careers sharing stages and recording studios with top name acts around the world, their respective roots: family, friends, and tradition, keep them all based in the serenity and unparalleled beauty of the southwest.
"I ran into Kenny after we had not seen each other in over 10 years. We got together for lunch and talked about how fun it would be to get something going again that would groove hard and in-the-pocket. We tossed around some names of who we wanted to play with, and it was exactly the line-up we had as 'Sez Who' back in the day." says Bassist Milo Jaramillo.
Master guitarist Daniel Ward, Pianist Steve "Fig" Figueroa, and Percussionist "Mookie" Jaramillo are also backing the incomparable Lead Vocalist Michael Herndon. Saxophone great Lee Taylor lends his soulful sound to the group's stage when not appearing with other notable acts around the world.
Adds Milo, "I only made one phone call to each of the cats, and all of them were in. Just like that. I texted Kenny and wrote: we have a band."
