Born and raised in Trinidad (Caribbean), Pop artist Shazelle is on the path to becoming an internationally recognized icon.
With her powerful voice, infectious charisma, boundless energy, and stunning beauty, Shazelle embodies the forefront of a new wave of domestically-developed tropical talent bringing heat to the global stage.
"If We Fell In Love" is her brand new smash, where Shazelle collaborated with Keo (top Romanian Artist/Songwriter/Producer), Rupert Gayle and Justin Forsley (top Canadian producers/songwriters).
Shazelle has several other singles and music videos generating a rapidly growing buzz, including “Pick Me Up”, “Elevator” and “I Need Love” (featuring international Reggae superstar Beenie Man).
Shazelle met her current manager, industry veteran Ivan Berry of international music brand management company, tanjola, at a music industry seminar hosted by the Copyright Organization of Trinidad & Tobago (COTT) in 2006, where Berry was a presenter. On a trip to Canada in 2008, she was able to connect with tanjola songwriter, Rupert Gayle (written for stars such as Keshia Chanté, Shiloh, Shawn Desman, Lenou Mouskouri, Jamilia and all Canadian Idol winners), to do a writing session.
The result of that initial co-writing effort was her first single, “Elevator”, produced by EKUE (production team of Gayle and Derek Brin, who has produced, written and remixed for international superstars like Jaheim, Kelli Price and Ginuwine). The track lead to tanjola signing Shazelle to an international deal that will see the singer marketed in North America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and eventually globally, in a variety of entertainment avenues.
Shazelle is currently working with a team of award-winning songwriters and producers, and performing around the world. Thus far, Shazelle has been collaborating with globally successful producers and songwriters such as Damon Elliott (Pink, Kelly Roland, Keshia Cole, Destiny’s Child etc.), Rupert Gayle (Keshia Chante, Shiloh), Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys), Alex Greggs of South Rakkas Crew (produced, written and remixed for international stars including NSYNC, Britney Spears, Pink, Shakira, Brandy, Michael Jackson, and Shakira); Keo (Keo, Andreea Balan and many others from Romania), Justin Forsley (produced for Shiloh) and Derek Brin (Jaheim, Kelli Price and Ginuwine).
Shazelle’s musical influences are broad – ranging all the way from Katy Perry to Metallica to Sarah MacLachlan to Nadia Ali to Shabba Ranks to Destra to Kool & The Gang – and her diverse tastes are reflected in her songs.
As the opening act for international Pop/R&B star Massari in 2009 and 2010, Shazelle traveled to countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain and Australia, where thousands of people connected with her high energy performance and glamorous, sultry style. Shazelle also performed in Romania where she shared the stage with Andreea Balan, who is one of Romania’s biggest artist of all time.
“It’s been a whirlwind of excitement over the past year, and I’ve been blessed to connect with new fans all over the world,” says Shazelle. “These experiences are definitely going to be reflected in the new music that I’m working on.”
tanjola has committed to a strategy focused on discovering Caribbean talent, developing them domestically, and then breaking them internationally.
“Countless artists from the Caribbean have been overlooked for decades because people see the region as being limited to Soca and Reggae music,” says Berry. “tanjola will prove that the Caribbean is an untapped source of superstars-in-waiting, and Shazelle is our first jewel in the crown. The world is about to see what it’s been missing.”
Outside of the entertainment industry, Shazelle is passionate about helping children and providing for the homeless, and she is dedicated to using her influence to bring attention and resources towards these causes.
“I want to be more than an entertainer,” says Shazelle. “I want to leave my own mark on the world and make a real difference in people’s lives.”
