Bobby was back in the Las Vegas studio to pen and record another string arrangement for a Warner Brothers UK artist, this time a full orchestral remix - keep your ears peeled for it! Bobby also created string tracks for an indie French pop artist in between trips to Los Angeles and his current mini-tour with Kevin Costner and Modern West which started in Central and Coastal Florida, and will be heading up the East Coast over the next 2 weeks.
Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players will continue on across Colorado, California and Texas through the end of April. Fingers crossed for continued safe travels and minimal April showers - shredding horsehairs is long-distance business!
To the “Rock Star of the Acoustic Violin”…you were great. I was a bit worried when you lost your sound on the first song but all else seemed to go well… You and Sara had one moment toward the end when she was just carrying a melody with you on solo that was one of most memorable, haunting musical moments I’ve ever heard. Thanks to everyone for a fantastic night of music. -Scott W.

IF there’s a color-themed party thrown by an energetic & fun-loving crew and it happens to take place in a museum in Wichita under a famous chandelier, by all means, GO! Bobby and his Unrivaled Players played hard for 4 hours on the chandelier platform at JADE, the Wichita Art Museum (WAM) Contemporaries’ signature annual gala event at the Wichita Art Museum. Dubbed as “green with an Asian twist,” the JADE specialty drinks flowed, along with wasabi peas, green gumdrops, green lighting effects, Asian-inspired food stations, a mobile sushi cart and hundreds of Wichita’s most influential decked out in enough green to make the Lacoste Crocodile blush!
A big thank you to those who helped make this event a success (see below)! We LOVE rocking with you in Wichita!

The holiday months are a hoot with a surprise fan show in Old Town Alexandria, VA, and a good ol’ Thanksgiving holiday in Atlanta, GA. Before too much snow falls, Bobby and his band plays a 7-hour super set for a non-stop crowd at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Boulder, CO. Afterwards, Bobby hops a United widebody en route to Romania to play a last-minute show with Kevin Costner & Modern West at Club Tribute in Bucharest. The show is oversold and things get hot, bowhairs are singed and Western shirts come off. An Eastern European classic!
In December, Bobby finishes recording a string arrangement he composed and arranged for a Warner Bros. UK artist, more details on that to come. Sweetness!
The Holidays finish in Vegas - Bobby’s parents and three sisters come out and play. Time for a well-deserved break and a pig-out on a Holiday ham (or two!) and a half-dozen pints of Graeter’s ice cream from some thoughtful friends…

October 2011
Overlooking Palm Springs from the O’Donnell House, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players rocked a Bohemian dance party under strung-up lights and SoCal stars. Flash forward to Bobby’s sold-out concerto-style performance with two full orchestras on October 20th in McLean, Virginia. The classic rock-themed program was performed sans-conductor for the first time ever. Special thanks to Katie LaBrie for all of her preparation, making the show a success!
Flipping back to the West Coast in between one-off shows in Buffalo, NY and Louisville, KY, made October one of the jettingest months of 2011. Big thanks to Indigo Productions and Broadway Sound for their help with sound this Fall - logistics while on the road can be crazy!
The all-new BobbyYang.com is coming soon!
September 2011
The ninth month was full of exciting jams, including a performance in Washington D.C. at a benefit for THEARC, and another rip-roaring private show on top of Aspen Mountain. On the 24th, Bobby and his band produced a live soundtrack for a 7-hour event on a 200-acre ranch in Durango which had folks dancing well into the moonlight. Highlights include a limo ride through the U.S. Capitol, an off-road adventure with a payload of gear, spectacular fish tacos (at Zia Taqueria), performing inside teak-floored tents imported from India, and the epic dance parties that ensued in the cool evening air.
August 2011
Appearances at a Weezer poolside show, a private jam on top of Aspen Mountain and a last-minute excursion to Los Angeles made the best of some hot August nights out West for Bobby and his Unrivaled Players. We wish all of our fans a cool finale to the summer heat - looking forward to meeting you all in Park City for some wintertime fun. Can’t wait… An all-new BobbyYang.com is coming soon!
July 2011
Bobby did some traveling through Ohio and Indiana this month and has been writing original music for his upcoming solo record. The Unrivaled Players flew into Las Vegas to play a soiree for the New York Knicks’ Chauncey Billups. Everyone wore white, including the Celtics’ Kevin Garnett who demonstrated his smooth moves on the dance parquet. An all-new BobbyYang.com is coming soon!
June 2011
Rallying through three 10-minute hail storms in the Blue Ridge Mountains en route from Tennessee to Virginia, Bobby met up with the rest of his Unrivaled Players in Roanoke and found their way to Boonsboro to make some music for some of his favorite fans. Special thanks to Bev and Whitney! Bobby celebrated his birthday on the 19th with a weekend of bar games and good eats, and made appearances at Red Rock with Gavin Degraw, Marquee with Mix Master Mike and Travis Barker and at the 5th anniversary performance of Vegas’s Phantom of the Opera.
May 2011
Getting a head start on summer, Bobby traveled to New Jersey and Florida in May. He had a blast behind home plate at a Tampa Bay Rays game, and enjoyed some R and R on Clearwater Beach - a week at The Sandpearl Resort, repeat meals at Guppy’s and the Clear Sky Cafe, and visits to the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary, The Dali Museum and St Pete Pier. Bobby’s songwriting continues in Las Vegas where the days have been perfect and unseasonably cool.
April 2011
Spring is here and Bobby Yang had a blast chasing warmer climates while performing in and around the US Virgin Islands. Off the chartered yacht and into the wild blue yonder, Bobby hit three Southern states at the end of April. A show at the House Of Blues New Orleans with KCMW, a downtown birthday show with Bobby’s power trio in Houston, and an idyllic setting at Blackberry Farm outside of Knoxville set the stage for an exciting and dramatic private performance by Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players. Thank you to all of Bobby’s fans and supporters for all of the love!
March 2011
In between the first rounds of the NCAA tourney, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players played hard in front of over 2000 at The Mirage in Las Vegas. Special thanks to Stephanie R for making it happen! The month’s madness continued with a pair of performances by Bobby at Celebrity Fight Night 2011 with Kevin Costner, featuring Kelly Clarkson and Matchbox 20 with Rob Thomas. It was a spectacular night of music directed and MC’d by David Foster.
February 2011
After Super Bowl festivities, Bobby and his band flew to Kansas to rock the Wichita Art Museum’s ONYX party under a Chihuly chandelier. They all had a fantastic night - the full moon was up, and at two-in-the-morning it was a comfortably balmy 40 degrees. After Wichita, Bobby homed in on another famous Chihuly installation, making appearances at a WBA-WBC title fight and at a Stone Temple Pilots reunion show in Las Vegas. Winter feels short in the sunny Southwest this year!
January 2011
Carefully descending an icy Vail Pass at 25-below zero is where Bobby and his crew were on New Year’s Eve - they made it safely to Aspen where they played their hearts out for a very special event at the Roaring Fork Club. In January Bobby carved out warmer digs in Las Vegas with a new tennis workout (inspired by watching the Australian Open) and by performing with Kevin Costner in front of 8000 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. And, Bobby’s piano is freshly tuned (and well-tempered), ready for a role in his new record!
December 2010
At the top of the month, Bobby Yang and crew found their way to the 10th floor of Central Park South’s New York Athletic Club to rock a special YPO-WPO event. Afterwards, the band had 2 days of Manhattan rehearsals and reconvened in San Francisco for a galactic experience performing at the Regency Ballroom for 2000 people at Zynga’s Z FUTURE blowout. After a fantastic time in SF, Bobby conducted 2 days of Las Vegas rehearsals and he and his band jetted back to NY to do a 3-day residency and orchestra rockshow at Lawrence High School in New Jersey. They had a blast with the students and teachers (Ms. Neamand rocks!) and can’t wait to Yang It with them again! Thank you to all of the NJ press and to the 800 fans who came to the Dec 17th show!
Bobby is now headed to Atlanta to perform at the Dec 26th NHL game at Philips Arena. Fact: The Atlanta Thrashers are 5-0 when Bobby performs for them.
November 2010
Bobby’s turkey month was full of strong strikes and no spares, with a special performance at San Francisco’s esteemed Bohemian Club with Bobby’s Unrivaled Players and rolling down to Brazil to play a festival with Kevin Costner and Modern West. Translated from the Rede BOM DIA - Diario de Sao Paulo review: “The unexpected highlight of the show was the band’s violinist (Bobby Yang), exceptionally excited.” On stage, Bobby always gives every ounce he’s got. Flying 13,000 miles to play one show was even more reason to make every note shine like crazy.
Bobby’s December will be chock full of Unrivaled performances in New York, Las Vegas, California, New Jersey and Aspen. Stay warm and safe this holiday season!
October 2010
Fall brings cool air to the desert, so violin hickeys beware - Las Vegas has the perfect climate for practicing! Aside from shedding and shredding, Bobby stays busy in Las Vegas, attending the Yelp Helps charity event at the Atomic Testing Museum, and the premieres of Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 2, Louie Anderson’s new Vegas show, and the openings of several new Vegas restaurants. Bobby is gearing up for the last 25,000 miles of 2010 touring, including a November trip to Brazil to play a festival and 4 more Atlantic-Pacific relays before Christmas.
September 2010
Bobby set up camp atop the Westin San Francisco Market Street over Labor Day weekend. He had a hoot with some of his favorite peeps around town and in Napa Valley, and he gathered some savory camp snacks from the legendary Lung Fung Bakery before jetting to Aspen, Colorado, to play a rocker of a seven hour set at 11,212 feet! After recuperating for a week in Las Vegas, Bobby and his band returned to Aspen to perform for the Summit54 Foundation in the historic Hotel Jerome Ballroom.
August 2010
Special events across the USA in August kept Bobby and his band on a roll, with major stops in California, Colorado and New York State. One of the highlights of Bobby’s month was an all-out jam up in the deep reaches of the Catskills where the streets have no name (or so it seemed). Thanks to some beautifully hand-drawn maps, no one got lost and everyone had a blast dancing by moonlight and to a trio of Martin light scanners!
July 2010
A 4-stringed Taiwanese bandit chases the northern stagelights across 3500 kilometers of Canada, from Ottawa’s Bluesfest to sold-out jamborees in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Declared a “firecracker fiddle player” by the Canadian Leader Post, Bobby Yang is hot on the trail promoting the next big thing in fiddling: a return to the fundamental techniques of the wooden violin. No tricks, no gimmicks, and no electric violins, no way, not now, not ever!
Bobby and his Unrivaled Players scorched the Aspen scene in mid-July, toting 49.5lb road cases, an upright bass, and quenching their appetite for some of Woody Creek Tavern’s gonzo grub. August takes the Yang gang to New York to perform in the Catskills as well as a weekly base-touching in Las Vegas where the long-awaited solo record is taking shape…
June 2010
Summer is on like Donkey Kong, and Bobby rolls out fiery barrels of violin rock in his Las Vegas debut performance at the annual Taste Of The Nation event benefiting childhood hunger! The band spends a majority of the Gemini month turning all of their notes into pearls, preparing for some exclusive engagements in Aspen and New York over the coming weeks. Colorado fans can check out the latest innovations of Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players at the just-added Belly Up Aspen appearance on July 22nd!
May 2010
Bobby and his Vegas-based Unrivaled Players rallied across the USA in May - even without the Millenium Falcon they managed to land at LucasFilm in San Francisco where they rocked two high-octane sets for the X PRIZE Foundation. Robin Williams, James Cameron, and Larry Page were in the front row, and Bobby’s rock ‘n’ roll rendition of “Space Oddity” became the theme song.
Thanks to the over 800 Michiganders who attended Bobby’s May performance with the 6-time GRAMMY award-winning Ann Arbor Pioneer Orchestra! Director Jonathan Glawe and the orchestra’s 140 members inspired Bobby and his band to push their sound through the esses and into the straightaway. Hot spotlights led to Bobby changing a broken E-string mid-song in less than 25 seconds - his record pit-stop triggered a standing ovation!
A mid-May ‘backyard’ show in Shreveport, Louisiana, had the cops waving the checkered flag to bring a thrilling finish to Bobby’s 5-hour performance. Apparently there were reports of “Arena-like violin and drums” from over 2 miles away! While in Shreveport, Bobby picked up lunch from Cush’s Grocery and got made as the fiddler from Modern West. The Cush family and Kevin Costner go way back…
The final stage of Bobby’s cross-country rally was a performance at an Indianapolis 500 event for Team Penske. Fueled by practice, passion, and the best tools from Thomastik-Infeld of Austria, AKG Acoustics GmbH, and CodaBow, Bobby is super excited about championing the wooden violin in 2010.
April 2010
After two weeks of string-busting rehearsals with his Unrivaled Players in sunny Las Vegas punctuated with a stop in Chicago and a weekend in New York City, Bobby lit up his wooden violin in front of a Country Thunder crowd of over 10,000 cowboys ‘n’ gals in the Southwest desert. After the show The Arizona Daily Star declared Bobby a “violinist in the league of some of rock’s finest practitioners.” Nice shootin’ Bobby!
The very next night, Bobby followed the Costner crew East to Biloxi, Mississippi, for an all-out rockfest on the MGM Mirage’s Beau Rivage Theatre stage. Bobby played both shows on a new graphite-fiber and kevlar CodaBow Joule. He looks forward to rehairing the Joule for the Georgia run…
In late April, Bobby and his Vegas-based Unrivaled Players flew to Georgia to explore dynamics, density, registral variety and silence in a string of consecutive club shows in McDonough, Albany and Athens. Anchored by an up-lit, Golden Nugget-inspired DW sparkle drum kit, the band delivered inspired, stick-breaking sets of improvised acoustic rock.
Rosin smoke on the water: Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players will touch the shores of the Pacific Ocean, the Great Lakes and the Gulf Coast all in the month of May!
March 2010
Bobby is back from Europe, and ready to rock with a new Las Vegas-based rhythm section! New Unrivaled Players shows on the Calendar in Georgia, Michigan and a couple of solo appearances including a festival show with Kevin Costner - opening for Keith Urban on April 16th!
Thanks to his friends at AKG, Bobby is now wireless, and thanks to Thomastik Infeld’s new Peter Infeld low-tension platinum-plated and silver-wound PI strings, Bobby loves hitting ‘em out of the park!
February 2010
As Old Man Winter wreaks havoc in the East, Bobby is calling audibles in the West with a last-minute tag at The 2010 NAMM Show, thanks to Thomastik-Infeld and their Vision Titanium Solo strings, and Bobby’s new European microphone friends who will help him stay undefeated in the wide world of wooden violin!
Think Fast! This month Bobby was seen NBA courtside at a Lakers game with his pal Devon Allman, and recording with Devon at Ardent Studios in Memphis on a new Honeytribe album of space-inspired rock. An impromptu show in ice-cold Nashville (why Nashville?) with Kevin Costner brought out a handful of friends, family, stars and critics. Bobby spent the rest of the month writing new original rock songs and arranging classic rock anthems to perform with live orchestra later this season. Going to a Superbowl party at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and ripping violin solos at sold-out shows in Spain, France, Luxembourg, Sweden, Finland, Germany and Denmark made this short month a full-spiral of silver-wound string action! YANG IT!
January 2010
The KCMW Winter European tour has been confirmed! From February 17th through March 26th, Bobby will be playing 26 shows throughout Europe. The tour schedule includes dates in Germany, Poland, France, Austria, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Luxembourg and Spain. Stay tuned for photos, video, and bow-breaking updates!
December 2009
Heel-toeing with the new year just around the corner, Bobby did some tooling around the USA in December from West to East, East to West, and West to Nashville to record on Kevin Costner’s new album. From Nashville, Bobby headed north for the holidays through WV, NJ and NY. The Guggenheim was packed, the sundubu jjigae was hot, and the roads got icy. It was a holly jolly trip, and Bobby got some cool new Hot Wheels to show for it!
November 2009
This month has been a southern-fried grand slam for Bobby Yang, with three urgent trips to the bow-rehair shop, three weeks of concerts and master classes in the southeastern United States, and three new arrangements for solo violin and orchestra. A hearty thank you to the more than 1000 Florida folk who attended Bobby’s concert in Vero Beach, Florida on November 24th. Bobby’s concert in McDonough, Georgia on November 11th was also in full swing with over 900 in attendance! New friends were made at the packed Athens, GA show at Raw Bar, and old friends cheered Bobby and his team of acoustic bandits on at the grand opening of The Levee, a new music venue in Albany, Georgia. Tour highlights include a barefoot beach outing and the 200-piece sushi boat that sailed into the band’s green room in Vero Beach, and all of the attentive fans, dedicated string teachers and hard-working string students that Bobby had the opportunity to spend time with throughout Georgia and Florida.
October 2009
Passports aching from customs stamps and carry-ons stuffed with euro treats, Bobby rocked 4 weeks of shows in Europe with Kevin Costner. Airplanes and double-decker tour buses shuttled them through Romania, Monaco, Belgium, Germany, Greece and Switzerland. Most of the shows were sold-out, and the crowd energy was unbelievable. Bobby made a mid-tour day trip to Houston, Texas to perform at the Amschwand Sarcoma Cancer Foundation 2009 Catwalk For A Cure event chaired by Lauren Clark, Kristen Clark Nix and Sheridan Williams. Special thanks goes out to Sheridan and John Eddie, you’re the best!
September 2009
Summer is over, but Bobby and his crew try to make it an endless one with a week off in Aspen and with a couple of extraordinary engagements in Napa Valley and Aspen. The beach is calling and Bobby is picking up, a special orchestral concert appearance in Vero Beach, Florida is slated for November 24th. Concerto-style meets surf-style, violin-style redefining rock-style.
August 2009
This just in: Collective Soul’s newest album to be released later this month will feature Bobby on the track “Love”. What can you expect? The usual Bobby touch: lush string arrangements and a catchy solo or two. Plenty to love.
July 2009
As some of you may know, the main stage at the Big Valley Jamboree in Canada collapsed this past Saturday, August 1st, as the result of a wind burst. Kevin Costner and Modern West were scheduled to play the main stage that evening, and we have received several emails asking if Bobby is okay. We thank you for your concern and want to let everyone know that Bobby is fine. He was napping on the tour bus when the stage collapsed. Although 2 of the Modern West team were injured, ultimately, everyone made it home. Our thoughts are with the families of those who were seriously injured and the one family who lost a loved one. The Jamboree date was the last stop for Modern West’s July tour. Bobby is now focusing on finishing up his new album and getting ready to tour with his band this fall and winter.
June 2009
Las Vegas summers are known to be toasty, so with temperatures coasting over the century mark, Bobby decided to seek cooler grounds. As summer headed his way, he jumped a plane for Toronto where he and Kevin Costner’s Modern West taped a live performance for Country Music Television Canada. The show, called Live at Revival, most recently featured Sugarland. The Modern West episode won’t air here in the US, but it should be up on cmt.ca sometime in the near future. We’ll keep you posted. Following his adventures across the border, Bobby headed to 3 of his favorite mountain towns: Aspen, Boulder and Lake Tahoe. He rocked with his Unrivaled Players at the base of Aspen Mountain and then retreated outside of Boulder where he continued to work on his upcoming album of original music. In between the writing pow-wow in Boulder and a Lake Tahoe appearance, the Bobby and his band played a benefit for a non-profit organization supporting students’ college dreams: Greenhouse Scholars. All in all a pretty cool month.
May 2009
One great art begets another, so you can be sure that Bobby and his Unrivaled Players were cranking inspired tunes at JC Pace III’s exhibition at Artspace 111 in Fort Worth, TX. The exhibition opened on May 7th. Prior to heading to Fort Worth, the band gathered in Lyons, CO to continue work on a new collection of original music. Then, it was back on the bus with Modern West. The first five days were all bus and no hotel, which made Bobby a slightly smelly boy, but no one said art was rosy. Good thing he saw his mom at the band’s first stop in New Jersey. The Norva in Norfolk, VA had some stylin’ backstage digs complete with arcade games, hot tub and a basketball court. The tour made its way to Philadelphia, Cleveland and Detroit before wrapping things up with a NASCAR All-Star performance in Charlotte, NC. Which leads us back to the beginning… one great art begets another. (Yes, motor oil qualifies as art.)
April 2009
Who knew that Taiwanese pop stars had a passion for Elvis, Nat King Cole, Peter, Paul and Mary and Bobby? Apparently, sometime during the Vietnam War American music arrived on the shores of Taiwan and provided a new song book for Taiwanese pop singers. Two of the most famous, Martha Huang and Tony Yang, collaborated for a performance of their favorite hits in Los Angeles, and Tony, knowing a good Yang when he sees one, invited Bobby to join the show. It was all “Puff the Magic Dragon,” “It’s All Right Mama,” and scorching Bobby solos. Bobby finished off the month hooking back up with his “Western” roots and fiddling his hairs off with Kevin Costner and Modern West at the Silver Legacy in Reno, NV and Coachella’s country cousin Stagecoach, where he tried in vain to challenge Charlie Daniels to a Devil-inspired fiddle-off.
March 2009
Madness in March in Atlanta! Thanks to the over 400 Atlantans who made it out to Bobby’s two sold-out shows at Eddie’s Attic last weekend! Bobby had a blast on The Regular Guys Show on 100.5FM thanks to Tim, Larry, Eric and Steve. While in Atlanta, Bobby spoke at the American String Teachers Association National Conference and spent some quality time with the geniuses of Thomastik-Infeld (Bobby exclusively plays on Thomastik-Infeld strings) and with Mr. Darol Anger and his Republic of Strings. In the upcoming weeks, Bobby and the band will be writing original music for their summer record.
February 2009
February got off to a groundhog start as Bobby rocked with Blues Traveler’s John Popper on February 5th at Antone’s in Austin while on tour with Kevin Costner and Modern West. Bobby’s Austin experience was accented with an in-studio performance with Costner at the KVET recording lounge thanks to the angels at the Universal Music Group (Karen and Teddy rock!) After two more shows in Dallas and Houston, Bobby will be headed back to Vegas to gear up for the homecoming rockshow at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta on March 21st.
January 2009
After touching down in Western Canada this afternoon, Bobby put on his knit hat to bear the minus 24 degrees celsius air and the frosty tarmac. Over the next three weeks, Bobby will be playing over a dozen shows with Kevin Costner and Modern West through Canada and the Midwestern United States, the Superbowl in Tampa, and down through Omaha, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Austin and Houston. Bobby loves your emails! Stay in touch and write often - stay warm!
December 2008
“Music should strike fire from the heart of man, and bring tears from the eyes of woman.” -Ludwig Van Beethoven
Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players wish you safe and happy Holidays! See you at the homecoming show in Atlanta at Eddie’s Attic on March 21st, 2009!
November 2008
With eyes on the weather and hands toting instrument cases, Bobby and the band navigate the start of the cold season through Colorado, Indiana and South Carolina with mini-tours in each state. The venues are packed with warm fans and new music is made as the improvised classic-rock-based jams jingle jangle yingle yangle.
Listen for Bobby on Kevin Costner and Modern West’s new Universal Records release available in stores nationwide and online. The signature fiddle lines are unmistakeably Bobby’s - especially those on “Superman 14” and “Long Hot Night.” Thank you to all of the Yang fans who make efforts to experience the Costner shows with Bobby!
October 2008
Fall comes. The leaves change. Time goes backwards. Bobby moves to Vegas. While the rest of the country was taking leaf tours and adjusting clocks, Bobby headed to the city that truly never sleeps (sorry New York, but we see you napping on the subway.) No worries, though, because his relocation does not mean he won’t be coming to see you soon. He still made time to take the Unrivaled Players to Houston to play two fashion shows at the Galleria. Thank you to all of the band’s new friends at Billy Reid, the designer who dressed the guys for the shows. Bobby also made it back to Michigan to visit the northwest shores and subject the crew to more pasties. Too many more, and the band might have to become legitimate miners.
September 2008
The summer ends with shows in Denver, Toronto and Aspen and a cross-country journey from Atlanta to Las Vegas in a 40 foot hauler. Lower gas prices are good for road warriors. Bobby gears up for the Michigan tour…
August 2008
While kids were heading back to school, Bobby and the band headed back to Colorado spending every weekend and quite a few weekdays in the Rocky Mountain state. After appearing in Atlantic City with Kevin Costner and Modern West at the beginning of the month, Bobby and his Unrivaled Players began their Rocky Mountain residency in Aspen rocking the Eisner ranch. With the Colorado Rockies ingrained, the crew headed northwest to the Tetons in Jackson Hole, WY, and tested out the acoustics of Grand Teton National Park and had a special show at the 13th hole… Mountains and more mountains later, Bobby and the band returned to Denver for a healthy dose of politics and lots of playing at the Democratic National Convention. For August’s grand finale, Bobby left the delegates chanting: “Rock, Bobby, Rock!” Now, doesn’t that have a nice ring?
On August 31st, Bobby and the band took off for Minneapolis to support Big Head Todd and the Monsters at the Fine Line Cafe, thanks to Magnum Entertainment Group. Alaska’s Governor wasn’t there, but 700 Republican delegates, lobbyists and politicos sang along to Bobby’s race-fuel rendition of “Hot For Teacher.”
July 2008
Bobby would like to dedicate this month’s news to the state of his youth, not metaphorically, but literally. Yes, Bobby walked the red carpet at the El Capitan in Hollywood this July, but red carpet can’t compare to the sugar sand of the Wolverine State. So, here’s to Michigan. If you aren’t familiar with state mottos, then you probably wouldn’t recognize Michigan’s: “If you are seeking a pleasant peninsula, look around you.” But, trust us, that is honestly the state’s motto. It may seem odd, but this July Bobby revisited both the Upper and Lower Peninsula and realized that the state motto is just the simple truth. Bobby and his Unrivaled Players had a sold out show at the InsideOut Gallery in Traverse City, MI, where sunshine, hospitality and cherries are abundant. Unfortunately, he missed Michael Moore’s film festival, including an appearance by Madonna, but thanks to the friendliness of Michiganders he enjoyed a day on Lake Michigan, a raucous performance and a growler of refreshing beverage. Pleasant indeed.
June 2008
Summertime, the New Kids on the Block’s first single since 1994, might not have landed the boys back on top, but summertime for Bobby is on the up and up. Bobby closed out spring with a 3-day bang performing on the last day of May with Kevin Costner and Modern West in Eugene, Oregon to raise money for the Mighty Ducks new baseball team and then heading straight to Leadville, CO where the Unrivaled Players opened up the historic Tabor Opera House for the summer and then traveled to Glenwood Springs, CO for a sold out show at Colorado Mountain College. And, what is summertime without food, wine, beaches and big movies? Nothing. That is why Bobby and his Unrivaled Players performed at Aspen’s Food and Wine Festival and hit Newport, RI for a East Coast beach break. This is also why Bobby has been busy touring from Toronto to Chicago’s House of Blues with Kevin Costner promoting his (Bobby’s) upcoming movie debut “Swing Vote” (in theaters August 1st). In the midst of his busy summer schedule, Bobby made time for his home town, Atlanta, GA, with a sold-out double show at Eddie’s Attic on June 20th. The show was the debut of “Her Majesty’s Three,” a program that Bobby is developing into a symphonic pops show (think Cirque du Soleil… Love meets Trans-Siberian Orchestra with a Bobby on the top). Phew. Sorry New Kids on the Block, but Bobby is having the best summer ever.
May 2008
It doesn’t get much better than summertime in the Rockies. Warm. Green. Bugless. That’s where Bobby and the band will be spending a lot of time over the next few months. Don’t miss the first two mountain-town shows: May 31st in Leadville, Colorado, and June 5 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The only thing that we think may be equally good is Bobby’s upcoming double show at Eddie’s Attic on June 20th in Atlanta. Bobby and the band will premiere their new themed show: “Her Majesty’s Three.” What is it? To find out, get your June 20th tickets now at www.eddiesattic.com. Oh, and don’t forget your flights for the two Colorado shows at www.frontierairlines.com. You deserve a vacation.
April 2008
Just announced, Bobby and the boys will play in Houston, TX, at Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar (1031 E 24th St) at 10:00PM on Friday, May 2nd. And, southeastern fans unite as Bobby brings his sound to the outdoor stage of Sandy Springs, Georgia’s Entertainment Lawn (6075 Sandy Springs Circle NE) at 6:00PM on Wednesday, April 23rd.
The last two weeks have been a stretch for Bobby’s road legs, with stops in New York, Georgia, South Carolina, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Denver and Beaver Creek, Colorado!
March 2008
Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players landed in New York City in mid-March for three engagements: a one-night-only rockshow at Sullivan Hall in the West Village, a master class presentation for the orchestral students of Lawrence High School, and a private concert in the grand belly of NYC’s Gotham Hall.
A big titanium thank you goes out to Connolly and Co. and Thomastik-Infeld for sponsoring Bobby’s industry showcase and educational session at the 2008 American String Teachers Association National Conference. Emphasizing the importance of practice and passion was the basis of Bobby’s presentation, and the band performed several songs throughout the session - showing string teachers and attendees from around the world how the acoustic wooden violin is the ideal instrument for everything rock.
Cradled in the shadows of a T-Rex skeleton and the warm glow of yellow uplights, Bobby and the band performed in the Houston Museum of Natural Science for the HMNS’s annual gala on March 1st.
February 2008
First of all, go to the store and get the new logo tee. It is a must have for all fans. Now on to the news… With Dale Chihuly’s “Confetti” Chandelier dangling over their heads, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players helped the young art patrons of the Wichita Art Museum rock out at their 2nd annual benefit for the museum. While the crowd sipped the theme-colored “blu” martinis, Bobby led the Unrivaled Players through some toe-tapping dance jams that are increasingly becoming a part of the Yang set.
Inspired by some dance fever, Bobby purchased a new synthesizer and a looping pedal before celebrating the Chinese New Year with a concert in Telluride, Colorado, at the thriving new restaurant come concert venue Las Montanas. Finishing up the mountain town tour, the boys headed over to Park City, Utah, for two sold-out nights at The Spur, where they serve mighty good food and have a mighty good staff. (Nicole rocks!) Bobby will spend the last couple of days this month talking to the teachers at the American String Teachers Association National Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He plans to tell them to stop asking him for all his secrets and to put the strap-on violins back in the closet. Hopefully, that goes well. We’ll keep you posted!
January 2008
A big Yang thank you to the 440 fans who attended the sold-out Eddie’s Attic double show on January 12th! Bobby and the band had a blast. Thanks to Leslie, Jenners and Mark of 99X for their help in promoting the shows. THE NEW T-SHIRT will be available for purchase at the BobbyYang.com STORE starting January 14th. Wear it well.
December 2007
Bobby was on the road again in November with the Costner team. Although Noel tried hard to keep Modern West away from the Bahamas, the band finally arrived via private plane from Miami and put on a show for the Atlantis guests. Bobby fell in love with the pork tenderloin at Mesa Grill and had some good times pool side at the Cove. A-Rod was hanging out pool side as well, and Bobby collected some hitting karma before heading to Tampa Bay for a performance for the newly christened “Rays”. (That’s right. Drop the “Devil”.) Modern West performed an outdoor show celebrating the new name and the release of the new jersey, which Bobby got to don at batting practice with the team at Tropicana Field. Bobby won’t put down his fiddle for a bat anytime soon, but he made some line drives.
November 2007
Bobby finished up his summer season with a series of performances in the low country. The Unrivaled Players rocked out at a low country boil with celebrity chef Tyler Florence at The Inn at Palmetto Bluff. (The Inn has the best tree house ever.) As the month came to an end, Bobby decided to take some time off, but he will kick off the new year with a New Year’s performance in Chattanooga.
October 2007
Fresh from a performance at the one and only Palmilla on the southernmost tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players are hot on the rock mariachi trail this month with in-school master classes, a couple of Georgia shows and a few long-distance band excursions to Cincinnati, Dallas and Los Angeles. Bobby has also been serving it up el diablo with Kevin Costner and Modern West as Kevin’s band has shows in Kansas City, Rome (Italy), Istanbul (Turkey), Tampa and the Bahamas over the next three weeks.
This just in! Thanks to Thomastik-Infeld of Austria, Bobby will give a keynote presentation and live performance at the 2008 American String Teachers Association National Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bobby is proudly endorsed by Thomastik-Infeld of Austria, maker of Bobby’s violin strings of choice: Thomastik-Infeld Vision Titanium.
September 2007
A hearty thank you to the over 950 fans of all ages who attended the two shows in Swainsboro, GA this week. Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players (with special guest Takana Miyamoto) had a blast performing at East Georgia College. Bobby and the band had a blast at The Pub in Albany on Sept 15th and at the Atlanta Arts Festival at Piedmont Park on Sept 16th.
August 2007
After a 5200-mile show tour from Georgia to Michigan to Colorado, Bobby and his Unrivaled Players came home to two sold out shows at Eddie’s Attic on August 3rd. The Eddie’s shows were milestones in rock history as both shows were wholly improvised, without setlists or intermissions, and performed on wooden instruments. Thanks to the 403 fans who came out to share the experience with us! Thank you to Tim, Leslie, Sean and Jenners of 99X’s The New Morning X for having Bobby on their show last week.
On August 5th, Bobby joined Kevin Costner and Modern West for a show at The Sunshine Theatre in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The word in Albuquerque is that Bobby will take part in Kevin’s first independent film entitled “Swing Vote” which will premiere in 2008. Keep an eye on the CALENDAR for more Modern West shows (August 9th in California is the next one) and for movie release dates of Kevin Costner movies featuring Bobby Yang!
July 2007
July is the hottest month of the year, and Bobby is taking cues from the weather man, as his performances promise to only get hotter in July. Bobby kicked off the month by celebrating July 4th with Kevin Costner in Aspen. To pay tribute to America, Bobby hit a homer on Costner’s private baseball field and ate Hickory House BBQ. The festivities were a warm up for a performance with Kevin Costner on 7-7-07 in Lake Tahoe at Harrah’s Casino.
Hot sets continued on July 12th at the Melting Point in Athens as Bobby and his Unrivaled Players fused rock and roll with super jam band acrobatics. Thanks to the Athens Banner-Herald for the cool write-up.
The last two weeks of July take Bobby and the band through Wisconsin, Michigan (two shows!), Aspen and the Boulder, Colorado area. Check the CALENDAR for exact dates, locations and times!
June 2007
Happy summer solstice as Bobby and his Unrivaled Players barnstorm the coolest venues and clubs in the hottest corners of North America! On Friday June 22nd Bobby and the band received two standing ovations while opening for Grand Funk Railroad at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheater! On Saturday June 23rd fans experienced two Yang shows in Athens, Georgia - the first at AthFest followed by a supremely rowdy second at the Boars Head downtown - YANG IT YANG IT! June wouldn’t be June without a late-June tour through Alabama, Louisiana and Texas as well. Check the CALENDAR for exact dates, locations and times!
On June 16th Bobby and the boys had a blast rocking the 8000 attendees of the Savannah Asian Festival, it was a great event, down to the Indian food in the green room! Bobby wants to hold the Taiwanese flag during the SAF opening ceremonies next year…
May 2007
Stay tuned in June for the Birthday Show of the Year: June 19th is Bobby’s birthday and we’re gonna celebrate with a single All-Ages Birthday Show at Eddie’s Attic. So mark your calendars - June 19th - one show only, packed with emotion and thousands of heartfelt violin notes from yours truly.
After touring 18 states in 18 days, Bobby and the crew rolled back into Atlanta on the 20th and got up bright and early to rehearse with the 200-member Garrett Middle School Orchestra. Bobby and his Unrivaled Players will be performing concerto-style with the Garrett Middle School Orchestra at the Mable House Barnes Amphitheater on May 21st.
April 2007
After a whirlwind month thru Atlanta, Chattanooga, Las Vegas, Denver, Aspen, Miami, the Cayman Islands and Nashville, Bobby Yang will spend the next two weeks recuperating and rehearsing for an ambitious YANG IT! May tour from Texas towards the Northeast. Bobby is currently recording with Kevin Costner and Modern West, the new ‘A-list’ band out of Santa Barbara, California. Expect to hear gun-smokin’ violin solos and movie western-like string arrangements when the album becomes available.
March 2007
Making plans to be at Aspen Highlands’ ZG Grill at 3:00PM on Saturday, March 31st? It’s an encore, pull-no-punches rock ‘n’ roll brawl of violin brawn and brain as Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players present a free fan appreciation show in Aspen, Colorado! Fan appreciation week continues as Bobby and the band cruise down to North Atlanta’s Wild Wing Cafe in Alpharetta, Georgia, on Wednesday, April 11th for another free fan appreciation show! Don’t miss ‘em - “I would be nothing without my fans and my band,” says Bobby. His favorite part of performing? “Meeting the fans after the shows after playing my heart out on stage,” answers Bobby.
Huge Yang-sized thank yous to the 374 Yang fans who tipped the scales at Eddie’s Attic on March 10th! Atlanta’s most dedicated rock connoisseurs witnessed two shows full of never-before-heard Yang originals and inspired classics. Is there an original EP in sight?
Hockey fans in Atlanta have two words to say about Bobby Yang’s anthem performances in Philips Arena: YANG IT! The NHL Atlanta Thrashers are undefeated when Bobby starts the game with his signature solo anthem - watch for Bobby during the playoff season around the corner…
Kevin Costner has invited Bobby to perform with him in the Grand Cayman Islands in April - check out Bobby’s MySpace and the VIDEO section of bobbyyang.com for more scoop.
February 2007
A gargantuan snowbank of thanks goes out to the hundreds of raging Aspen fans who barnstormed the ZG Grill at Aspen Highlands for Bobby’s final Ski-Town Tour show on Sunday, February 18th! Bobby, Mark Cobb, Nick Niespodziani and Peter Olson played a chilled-Tuaca-charged five-and-a-half-hour set under the afternoon sun while overlooking the two feet of fresh snow that fell over the weekend. Thanks to Torre and Sari at Plum TV for their help in promoting the show as Bobby and the boys performed “The Physics Of Giving” and “War Pigs” on live TV at the breakfast hour.
More news: Bobby will be playing lead violin with Kevin Costner at the NASCAR Auto Club 500 at the California Speedway on Sunday, February 25th in front of an estimated 80,000 fans!
The ski-town tour kicked off successfully as Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players rocked a sold-out crowd of over 400 at the Wichita Art Museum on the way out West. Fans from Vail and Beaver Creek descended onto the Feb 8th show thanks to Ted Alvarez’s 1000-word feature on Bobby in the Vail Daily News. Denver mile-highers discovered new heights on Feb 9th as Bobby and his band joined forces with Atlanta’s Y O U for a knockout violin-led encore set including “War Pigs,” “Kashmir,” and “Freebird.”
January 2007
Ludwig Van Beethoven once said that music should strike fire from the heart of a man, and bring tears from the eyes of a woman. Accompanied by the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players struck fire, brought tears and rocked their hearts out last night in front of 446 adoring fans at the Theatre Dublin in Dublin, Georgia. “I was completely blown away. Bobby and his band can eat the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for lunch,” said a local Arts Council patron.
The show was a giant leap for acoustic violinists worldwide. “You couldn’t bribe me with a million bucks to perform on an electric violin. Violin students need to realize there is SO much more rock potential using the wooden instruments they already own. You’re shooting yourself in the foot if you fall for the electric violin scam. Don’t do it. Yang it instead,” says Bobby. Catch the next string of YANG IT! shows including the February ski-town tour and the March 10th double-show at Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta!
December 2006
Couped up in a western Colorado retreat, Bobby has been arranging and scoring orchestra parts for his January 13th debut with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. Bobby and his Unrivaled Players (Mark Cobb, Tak Nakazawa, Rob Henson) will join unrivaled pianist Takana Miyamoto and the Atlanta Pops in a musical event appropriately entitled, “CLASSICS ROCK.” The band will pay tribute to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Led Zeppelin, Prince, Rush and The Rolling Stones, all with full orchestral accompaniment. Bobby and Takana (Creative Loafing’s Best Instrumentalist and Best Jazz Act of 2006, respectively) will play as a duo for the first time as well. Need we say more? Don’t miss it: January 13th, Theatre Dublin, Dublin, Georgia.
Check out this month’s issue of Aspen Peak Magazine which features five photos of Bobby in various states of performing and hanging out with Kevin Costner, EKS Events’ Elizabeth Slossberg, guitarist Teddy Morgan and crew.
November 2006
We are SO PROUD of our fans! A heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to the 355 Yang fans who hollered, screamed, laughed and cried at Bobby’s sold-out CD release shows at Eddie’s Attic on Friday night. It was a stunning YANG IT! release. Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players (Mark Cobb, Rob Henson, Tak Nakazawa) improvised two 13-song sets of quintessential rock, including blistering renditions of Eruption, Welcome to the Jungle, Hot For Teacher, War Pigs, and their signature Kashmir. Misti and the crew at BobbyYang.com thank FOX 5 Television, Clear Channel’s 96Rock, and WABE National Public Radio for their help in promoting the shows.
Congratulations to Terri Holland of Calhoun, GA, the winner of the YANG IT! Trip for Two to New York City giveaway, sponsored by AirTran Airways!
October 2006
Bobby inks a string endorsement deal with Thomastik-Infeld of Austria, the makers of Vision Titanium violin strings.
Attention Yang fans: Bobby will be releasing a new live CD on Friday, November 17th, 2006, at a double show at Eddie’s Attic! It’s a compilation of the best songs recorded live by Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players over the past 10 months. FYI, there are two shows on Nov 17th: an All Ages show at 6:30pm and a Late Show at 9:30pm. Doors open at 5:30pm and 9:00pm, respectively. To celebrate the new CD and the new CD cover art featuring a smashing photo of boy Bobby at the Statue of Liberty, Bobby will be GIVING AWAY A TRIP FOR TWO TO NEW YORK CITY at the late show. All you have to do is show up and stay until the end, and you just might win! Flights courtesy of AirTran Airways. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance, as the shows will sell out!
After a hectic last few weeks of roundtrips and one-ways to-and-from Seattle, Portland, Aspen, Atlanta, Chicago, Baltimore and Virginia, Bobby is really happy to be home preparing for the next couple of rockshows in Atlanta.
Baltimore’s Lyric Opera House played host to Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players last weekend as they performed a showcase set for performing arts presenters. Things got a little crazy backstage as the band crossed paths with Bill Evans’s new ‘soulgrass’ band (!?) and with Dazed And Confused actor Anthony Rapp (who sang a few tunes with the acoustic guitar accompaniment of Y-O-U frontman and Unrivaled Player, Nick Niespodziani.)
September 2006
Bobby might not agree with the food critics over at Creative Loafing. (He’s never been a fan of the yellowy canned mushrooms at the Loaf’s ‘Best Breakfast’ pick the Silver Skillet.) But, he can’t say much bad about the music fiends as they chose him as 2006’s ‘Best Instrumentalist’ admiring his ability to spew Led Zeppelin and Paganini while balancing a bar glass on his head (or something like that.) Three cheers for Creative Loafing for having good taste in music, but if you are looking for breakfast in Atlanta Bobby votes for Ria’s Bluebird.
August 2006
Bobby sends a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of the 365 rock fans who came to Eddie’s Attic on August 11th. “My fans are the reason I rock,” he quipped from stage. If you’re hankering for the ‘Yang It!’ t-shirt he wore on stage that night, keep tabs on the bobbyyang.com STORE to snap up a limited quantity of 1st-edition ‘Yang It!’ shirts as they become available… Rodney Ho from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution even loved the shirt. Okay, he called it “goofy,” but he raved about the performance. Heck, he even used the adjective “elegiac.” Talk about waxing poetic!
A big hometown hug goes out to the 276 fans who attended Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players’ July 27th show at Belly Up in Aspen, Colorado. That night, you could feel the love from a mile away. “Some of my favorite people in the world are always in Aspen. It’s a great place to escape to. I ran into Nikki Sixx last night in the hallway of my hotel…” reported Bobby.
In other news, Bobby is playing in Kevin Costner’s field of dreams (so to speak.) Mr. Costner invited Mr. Yang to perform with his new band in Aspen, Colorado on July 21st. Yang enjoyed feasting on Costner’s homemade waffles and fiddlin’ along with mostly original tunes and some classics, including the cowboy favorite “Liberty Valance.” Bobby had this to say about the experience: “It has been unbelievable getting to know Kevin as an artist and individual. It is easy to think of him as just a name or movie star, but I’ve learned more about him as a creative peer.”
Pick up the current issue of Jezebel Magazine to spy a feature on Bobby and his life in Atlanta…
NEXT STOP: Bobby wants to make it to Nashville. What do you guys and gals think?
July 2006

NEW SHOW OUT WEST! Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players rock Aspen, Colorado, on Thursday, July 27th at Belly Up. Doors at 8PM, show at 9:30PM. Belly Up is located at 450 S. Galena St. smack-dab in the middle of downtown Aspen.
June 2006
Bobby Yang has been travelling like crazy - in the past month alone he has set foot in Amsterdam, Milan, Venice, Rome, the Adriatic Sea, Detroit, Lake Superior, Aspen, Boston, and New York. Bobby’s a proponent of more sushi bars and massage stations in aiports. And, he never checks his bags… “I can walk straight to the front of the cab line,” says Bobby.
Good musical taste revealed another fresh setlist at the beloved Eddie’s Attic on June 29th. A wall-to-wall audience cheered and gasped as Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players presented fifteen classic rock songs in a virtuosic showcase of improvisation, technique and courage. Yes, courage. Bobby likes playing the hero when it comes to rocking the crap out of his acoustic fiddle and bow.
May 2006
On the eve of the new Avril Lavigne single featuring your favorite violinist Bobby Yang alongside Butch Walker on the piano, we would like to celebrate by announcing the next show! Thursday, June 29th at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. Bobby and his band promise to share some surprises with y’all.

A big shout out to the 9,245 Norwegian Bobby Yang fans who downloaded the Eruption video last month. Germany was a close European second at 7,883 downloads. Tusen takk and Danke shon! Stay tuned for the Asian stats…

Thanks to all of the NHL fans who rocked with Bobby and the band tonight at Philips Arena. Bobby grew up in the frozen tundra of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan surrounded by ice hockey, so there’s a warm place in his heart for pucks and penalty shots. See you at the Smith’s show on the 12th!
Play one, drink one, hot dang! Bobby goes out solo sitting in as the fifth element (fiddle) of Atlanta’s outlaw country band Blackberry Smoke. Join Charlie, Paul, Brit, Richard and Bobby on stage at Vinyl in Midtown ATL. Now whoever says Bobby’s classical training has gone to waste has never seen him rip four Paganini Caprices in a row while balancing a bar glass on his head. True story.
February 2006
Bobby makes a guest appearance with Atlanta’s emo rock trio Telegram and with singer-songwriter Kristin Markiton for a full evening of music at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA. Along with Bobby, a whole slew of guests appeared on Kristin’s new record, including Train’s Brandon Bush and Sugarland’s Kristian Bush. Bushes, bushes everywhere.
January 2006
Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players are on a plane to New York City today to rock a showcase for the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Annual Conference. If you live in NYC and would like to meet and greet Bobby and the band, pull up a chair at the Wonjo Korean Barbeque on 32nd and 5th after the show.
There is a new show on the horizon, February 17th in Nashville! Bobby and the boys join friends Blackberry Smoke. YEE-HAW! Check the Calendar link for more info.
Bobby, Clay, Mark, Rob, and the BobbyYang.com crew would like to thank each and every one of the 287 concertgoers who came to Eddie’s Attic to rock with them last night! Every show provides an opportunity for Bobby and his Unrivaled Players to improvise a custom set of tunes chosen from the thousands of songs in their fingers. Last night’s song selection played off of the diverse crowd gorgeously… it is again rumored that girls fainted, and men wept.
Check out the current edition of Creative Loafing Atlanta for a 1000-word explosion about Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players! On the radio, Bobby pumped up The Regular Guys on 96Rock yesterday morning with live performances of Eddie Van Halen’s “Eruption” and an impromptu bit of Ramones requested by The Regular Guys’ Eric Von Haessler.
December 2005
Okay, we are going to cheat a little and tell you about something that is happening in January. Yes, we know the title says “December.” Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanzaa and all that jazz. Now, as we were saying: Monday, January 2nd at 8am Bobby and his Unrivaled Players are appearing on Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta, and later the same week, Bobby will be featured in Atlanta’s Creative Loafing. It’s a virtual media coup d’Etat. Watch out Atlanta. Next thing you know, Bobby will be an 11Alive news anchor.
So, what happened in December? Santa brought Bobby new web hosting and a snazzy new video production team. The new year promises lots of new videos, so you will have something besides “Eruption” to show your friends. Consider them belated stocking stuffers along with the new red shirts and stickers available in the store.
Team Denver also rocked the grand opening party for the Hyatt Grand Aspen. Described as “the party to end all parties” by the Aspen Daily News, the event featured your favorite violinist as the A-list entertainment. With finger-bleeding gusto, Yang climbed monitors and played to a crowd of 700 chanting fans. It is rumored that girls fainted, and men wept. Did you see what Madonna was wearing?
All in a month’s work for Mr. Bobby Yang.
November 2005
Ahhhh, Thanksgiving. What was Bobby most thankful for this month? His ADORING FANS, of course! On November 16th, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players rocked Georgia’s morning commuters with live performances of “Back In Black” and “Warpigs” on Atlanta’s 96Rock. Later that evening, the boys cruised over to Eddie’s Attic in Decatur, GA to play their hearts out for a standing-room-only crowd. If you missed the show, what were you thinking? Get your tickets for the January 6th show and do it q-q-quickly.
Ladies and gentlemen, introducing ROB HENSON! BobbyYang.com proudly welcomes upright bassist Rob Henson as the newest Unrivaled Player! Mr. Henson describes November 16th’s Eddie’s Attic show as being “the most fun I’ve had at a gig in like, 3 years…” and he “can’t wait to get on the road” with Bobby and the guys. Get your passport ready, Rob. You’re coming with us!
This just in… Bobby wrote and recorded a Yang-ified eight-part string arrangement for a new Cowboy Mouth song produced by the always-cool Russ-T Cobb in Atlanta. Happy Holidays!
October 2005
Aloha, Yang fans! The entire band and entourage are home from a gig on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. On their days off after the show, Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players are spotted bodysurfing on Poipu Beach, aboard a helicopter over the Napali Coast, ukulele hunting in Kalaheo, and running from wild chickens in Waimea Canyon. Now, back in Atlanta, the boys have 33 hours to swap out their dirty threads and catch some zzz’s before blasting off to Phoenix, Arizona, to play a six-hour rock set.
Is Bobby Yang the new King of All Media? Before you call your broker to short-sell shares of Sirius (NYSE: SIRI), run to your local newsstand and check out the October issues of Strings Magazine and Atlanta Magazine. Both articles extol the virtues of Bobby’s rock skills and include glossy photos of your fave New Jersey-born, Taiwanese violinist.
September 2005
We hope your seatback is in its full upright position, ‘cause Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players will ramble on for 4 consecutive weekends through Richmond, Washington DC, Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Denver, and Aspen. After a few days of much-needed rest, Bobby slides into Philips Arena on the last day of the month to serenade NHL fans with a heartfelt Anthem. Don’t forget your octopus! (Wait until Bobby leaves the ice before you chuck it.)
August 2005
The tour bus kept rolling in August with some more arena shows in Denver and NYC and a show for 99x in Bobby’s hometown of Atlanta. Despite an altercation with some drunken Stephen Baldwin types (which included the ever inventive comeback “Why don’t you get a haircut?”), Bobby and his Unrivaled Players delivered quality goods for 99x.
Bobby found the time to go back to New York to record more string arrangements with producer Ron Saint-Germain, and despite the oft used expression, it was Rocketscience— that’s the name of the rad band from Boston, featuring the virtuosic vocals of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. Check it out, and don’t worry, Bobby’s not going to cut his hair anytime soon.
July 2005
Yeah, the weather was hot in July, but guess what else was hot (or should we say who else)? If you answered Bobby Yang, then you win. Bobby started off the month in Lincoln, Nebraska with a rockin’ date at Knickerbockers. Fans all over the country should take lessons from the Lincoln crew, as they came out in flocks and left with lots of t-shirts. The rock ‘n’ roll tour also took Bobby to Colorado where The Denver Post thought enough of him to write an entire article about his violin prowess. They even put his picture in the paper.
Bobby’s most recent string orchestration can be heard on Default’s new radio single, “Count On Me.” It’s already in the top 20 in Appleton, Wisconsin…
June 2005
At the end of the month, Bobby and his band will embark on an 11-show tour of Colorado and Nebraska, crossing the North American Great Divide 14 times before July’s end. Check the calendar for club dates and times!
Bobby wrote, arranged and singlehandedly recorded a 16-part rock string arrangement in New York last week with Grammy-winning badass producer Ron Saint-Germain (311, Tool, Creed, Soundgarden, U2). It will accompany a new radio single, to be released in July. Bobby won’t tell us what band it’s for yet…
The first edition Bobby Yang t-shirts have been printed and they are OK. Just kidding! They RULE! Get them at the July shows first, or buy them here at bobbyyang.com in a few weeks. They’re available in all sizes and in Bobby’s high school colors.
May 2005
Did you go to the CD release party on May 20th? If your answer is, “Hell yes I did!” then you know that 400 people came out in the rain to attend the big shindig at the Atlanta Brewing Company. Earlier in the day, Bobby and his band (Clay Cook, Mark Cobb and Ben Reich) rocked ATL’s morning rush hour with on-air performances on 96Rock and Star94.
If you DIDN’T go to the CD release party, then you’d better find a way to make it up to the guys and either catch this Thursday’s (May 26th @8:30PM) public rehearsal at CJ’s Landing, or hop a train to Colorado for the encore “No. 1 Tribute” CD release party in Aspen on June 4th. It’s your choice - flip a coin and be done with it!
Grease up your computer mice ‘cause bobbyyang.com is currently being updated to include a slick multimedia section with new videos and fresh pics, and a press page containing all of the cool things people are saying about Bobby Yang (and his Unrivaled Players.)
April 2005
The pre-release tour was filled with surprises, kicking off with Bobby sitting in with the beloved Butch Walker at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood - among the shoulder-to-shoulder throng of Butch fans were Pink, Vanessa Carlton and Third Eye Blind’s Stephan Jenkins. Later on in the week, morning commuters in the Bay Area perked up to Bobby and his Unrivaled Players rocking a live performance of “Kashmir” on San Francisco’s KFOG, as well as an impromptu late-night set at the W Hotel that kept ‘em up late.
Bobby has been shredding his heart out in the studio. Bobby will be on an upcoming Avril Lavigne single (produced by Butch) and his nasty rock talent will be all over a full-bore string tribute to Pantera which will send the faint-of-heart running to their mommies. Horses be warned, Bobby Yang is tearing through 6 bows a month.
The official CD release party is just around the corner. Friday, May 20th, 5-7PM at the Atlanta Brewing Company. For $5 you get a show, all-you-can-drink beer, hors d’oeurves, and wait… there’s more! If you’re one of the first 500 guests - you get a free 2005 Not For Tourists guide to Atlanta, a $16.95 value. Ginsu ain’t got nuthin’ on Yang. Dang!
March 2005
Moms always tell you that life’s not fair. It’s trite, but unfortunately moms know best when it comes to injustice. And, for those of you with the misfortune of living somewhere other than the sunny west coast, life’s musical wheel of fortune will hit bankrupt in April.
Bobby has spent this past month making plans for a special pre-release tour in L.A. and San Francisco. Yang and his band will be rolling into L.A. the week of April 18th for a fancy media showcase and then head north for a Golden State Warriors half-time show and an appearance at the San Francisco Film Festival. West Coasters will have the “unfair,” but darn lucky, opportunity to purchase Bobby’s CD “No. 1 Tribute” before it is available anywhere else. So, if you live anywhere within 10 hours of these two great cities, start saving your pennies because Bobby’s coming and he has a CD.
For the rest of the country, stay tuned, as there is sure to be a Happy Ending, and it won’t be Complicated…
February 2005
MSN is spreading a new “viral” online campaign to promote their new search engine, and a Bobby Yang video is one of the germs. If there has ever been a sickness you’ve wanted to catch, this is it. Put away your anti-bacterial soap and double-dip all you want.
Keep your ears on for the newest snatch of Butch Walker proteges… they’re called The Neverending and their upcoming debut album on Epic Records will feature your favorite infectious violinist. It’s an epidemic!!! Don’t forget: THE CD IS COMING.
January 2005
Plans are in place for the official May 20th release of Bobby’s debut album entitled “No. 1 Tribute.” Stay tuned to bobbyyang.com and to Atlanta’s 99X radio for details.
Watch Bobby rip horsehair in commercials for Microsoft’s new search engine and at the debut of Spirit Antonio Banderas in Aspen, Colorado. Special Report: Violins In Basketball… Bobby will be playing for the Atlanta Hawks on December 3rd at Philips Arena, playing the violin that is. He will perform the National Anthem before the Hawks and Wizards duke it out. (We hope not literally. The Hawks are much too nice to throw punches.)
Bobby and his band are really recording an album. It isn’t just an elaborate hoax to keep you coming back to the website. (That is the purpose of the videos.) The album is almost done. Bobby has finished up the violin tracks, and Clay Cook, co-author of several John Mayer songs, is mixing it down as you read.
And lastly, just to prove that he has alt-country chops as well, Bobby recently recorded some string arrangements for a solo album by Delta Moon’s Kristin Markiton.

Bobby Yang and his Unrivaled Players played a 6-hour set at Kevin Costner’s wedding celebration in Aspen, Colorado. Sitting in with Bobby’s band were Bruce Willis on harmonica and vocals, Don Johnson, and Costner’s daughter Lily. The set evolved into a 500-person karaoke concert, featuring Bobby on piano accompanying various celebs singing their hearts out to songs by Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, Joan Jett, and Prince. The sing-along was mentioned in People Weekly, Us Weekly, In Touch Weekly, and on Entertainment Tonight and EXTRA.
Bobby is recording a full-length album that will be completed by the end of 2004. The album will be available online right here at BobbyYang.com.

Default’s latest single “All She Wrote” is climbing the charts aided by Bobby’s string arrangements. Call your local rock station and request the “single mix”. You can also download the single from Default’s website.
Before Jumbo Spicy Wings, for those who live in the Southeast, a guy that looks just like Bobby playing the violin for Krystal’s latest Jumbo Spicy Wings commercial may have haunted you. Well’ it is not an imposter; it is Bobby. This is his second TV appearance - his first was FOX’s 30 Seconds To Fame.

On the 24th, rocker/producer Butch Walker’s solo album “Letters” goes on sale, and in it you will find the violin genius of Bobby Yang coexisting nicely with the musical genius of Atlanta’s hometown rock ‘n’ roll hero. Grab a copy or two and then play the heck out of “Joan”, “Best Thing You Never Had”, and “Promise” for a dose of Bobby.
There has never been anything I’ve wanted to play that I wasn’t able to play on an acoustic, wooden violin.

Happy Holidays y’all! Robo-Tree is a hand-built, repurposed cardboard robot wrapped in thin orange vinyl (also repurposed). Now that the Holidays are over, Robo-Tree will be recycled by Republic Services this Tuesday morning. The metal eyes from lamp parts, glasses from Yelp!, artificial tree from Lowe’s, and ornaments/lights from Michael’s and Macy’s will be salvaged.
Hi Bobby:

Introducing the wooden violin daily.
