Hello, I am boog, little b-o-o-g.
Philadelphia’s resident guttural growler is back in force with an eponymous solo LP featuring tracks that date back as far as 2006, to the days of his first performances. Recorded live in a one night session by Glenn Barratt at MorningStar Studios in Spring House, PA, boog (Oct 2011) takes listeners through the wringer: snarling stomps to heartbreaking jazz vamps, and back through a tangle of concrete jungle country. boog’s oaken baritone underscores the unmistakable drive of his finger-based strumming style in gut-wrenchers such as ‘SNAV,’ ‘Sexless Devil,’ and ‘Planned Obsolescence,’ while his cathartic vocal delivery in the ballads ‘Boy’ and ‘Saline Blues’ hits the heart hard, and doesn’t stop. The long-line verses and unmatched off-rhymes of ‘Straight From The Grave’ and ‘Confession’ have been tilting heads in wonder at boog shows for years past.
