Early Career
While born and raised in Nashville, TN, David hitchhiked with his guitar in tow to Hollywood during a college Spring break in pursuit of a folk-singing career. With dreams of singing the songs he knew and loved driving him forward, he began playing venues throughout Southern California. However, upon discovery by actor Fess Parker of acclaimed Disney films such as 'Old Yeller' and 'Davy Crockett', and star of the hit television series 'Daniel Boone', David began an acting career instead, appearing in series such as 'The Virginian' as well as in 'Daniel Boone'. With the distinction of being the only true "Nashvillian" in the cast, his single film credit would be to play a major role in Robert Altman's Academy-Award-nominated movie, 'Nashville' with Lily Tomlin, Jeff Goldblum, and Henry Gibson.

My Aviation Interests
In 2007, I was invited to perform some music out on the tarmac at a GA airport in the Denver area (KAPA). The occasion surrounded the highly anticipated visit of EAA's Aluminum Overcast B-17 Flying Fortress. My job was simple; just keep the crowd entertained while this beautiful piece of history took off and landed. Although I had gladly volunteered my performances, deep inside I had hoped to be offered a ride. Unfortunately, all rides were sold out in Denver. To my surprise, I was invited to join the B-17 crew for it's homeward flight back to Oshkosh. Afterwards, I knew that music and aviation would somehow be close friends.
I grew up on a Tennessee dairy farm situated near an air base outside of Nashville. I can still hear the roar of a C-130 Hercules and choppers flying maneuvers over the farm as I worked with my dad in the fields. I was so convinced I could fly as a child that I attempted to build a full-scale glider using my dad's tools and his best wood. Thankfully, plans to somehow "catch the wind" from atop the barn failed. That passion to someday fly never left.
In 2008, I attended my first AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI. Having enjoyed a lengthy career (40+ years) as a singer/guitarist, I had the strangest sensation I was "home"! In 2011, I performed a concert for the Flying Musician's Association, also in Oshkosh. My guitar now accompanies me to as many aviation gatherings as my schedule will allow.
Hopefully, I'll see you on the tarmac.
