As a well educated kid from inner cities of Baltimore hip-hop lyricist, eMeX (pronounced M-X), has quite the story to tell. After a life-altering car accident that ended his professional sports dreams along with the death of his grandmother, eMeX (born Matt Walker) used poetry and performance to cope with these traumatic and life changing events. With a unique backdrop of varied experiences for a canvas, eMeX uses his commanding lyricism to paint vivid depictions of life’s many facets.
eMeX garnered much recognition with the release of "Close Your Eyes", the smash single from highly acclaimed independent mix tape--Honorable Discharge, which debuted February of 2011. By creating a buzz for himself on the illustrious campus of Howard University, eMeX has already received many rave reviews from his peers and fans from this dynamic debut—harvesting features on The Urban Feed Magazine’s “28 Days of Black” and college radio stations along the east coast.
Most recently eMeX delivered an explosive verse on A$AP Ant’s smash, “Ridin’ Round Slow,” that gained the attention of a variety of major blog sites and hip hop audiences nationwide including HotNewHipHop.com, AllHipHop.com, and OnSmash.com. In December 2011, eMeX debuted his first single “Overdose,” from his highly anticipated sophomore release, The Sobriety Test. “Overdose” showcases eMeX delivering assertive, flashy metaphors over a high energy track. Within hours of its release "Overdose" was featured on DJBooth.net, HotNewHipHop.com, PaulMeara.com, HouseOfAura.com, DMVCulture.com, as well as TheDopeDelivery.com. With his powerful new single, eMeX leaves no doubt that he is only getting started in the hip hop game and isn’t stopping any time soon. eMeX is currently working on the his sophomore mix tape, The Sobriety Test, due spring 2012.
