Fiction 8 has never been easy to categorize. They have been at times described as darkwave, goth, electro-industrial, and future-pop. They seem to take a perverse glee in this.
The band is probably best known for their song "Let Go", which has received a lot of play on dancefloors and for which several fan-made videos can be found on YouTube. The band's roots can be traced to a project called Creeping Eruption, formed in Boulder, Colorado in 1989. The band's first CD appearance was on 1992's “The Cyberflesh Conspiracy” with future industrial luminaries Chemlab, 16 Volt, and Mentallo & the Fixer. After several member changes, the band settled on the name Fiction 8 in 1993. Over the years, F8 has released five albums, playing live with the likes of VNV Nation, Switchblade Symphony, Hocico, and numerous others, and has performed across the U.S. and in the U.K. They are currently in the studio working on their sixth album, tentatively titled Dark Star Disarray, due for release in spring 2013.
