Jay Levine Biography
Jay Levine (sony/atv) is a successful music executive/manager/songwriter-producer whose production company, Lefthook Entertainment LLC, has been funded by Columbia Records, Warner Music Group and Island Records.
This Canadian-born musician has discovered, written and produced multi-platinum acts such as The Philosopher Kings (2 X Platinum), Prozzak (6 X Platinum), B4-4 (2 X Platinum) Fefe Dobson (1 X Platinum), and Susan Cagle who appeared on Oprah.
Levine has served as A and R consultant for Lyor Cohen (Chairman of Warner), Craig Kallman (Chairman of Atlantic Records), Will Botwin (Chairman of Columbia Records) and Steve Greenberg (President of Columbia Records and founder of S-Curve Records).
At age 24 Levine left the prestigious Jazz Music program at McGill University and co- founded Juno Award winning (Canadian Grammy) 2 X Platinum selling band The Philosopher Kings (Sony music). Levine created the world’s first fully animated band (Prozzak)which became a Canadian cultural phenomenon, selling over 6 X platinum, receiving 5 Juno award nominations and sold out concert tours in Canada and Japan. Levine’s work on this project is cited in several textbooks relating to pop-culture marketing in various Canadian Colleges.
Levine formed a production company called Lefthook Entertainment to fund, develop and produce his discovery, Fefe Dobson (Platinum in the US, 2 X platinum in Canada Island Def/Jam),
In 2004 Levine moved to New York City and discovered Susan Cagle playing at the 34th St. Subway Station. Jay signed Susan to Lefthook, wrote, produced and sold 40 thousand units at subway performances in one year alone (Lefthook/Columbia Records) Levine single-handedly landed Susan an appearance on MTV’s Video Music Awards and on the Oprah Winfrey Show by writing the song Dear Oprah, which told Susan’s story to Oprah and the world.
Levine then discovered Bronx rapper Tokyo Diiva and brought her to over 20 million plays on MySpace and landed her the theme song for the Oxygen Networks hit reality show The Bad Girls Club.
Levine is has also consulted for advertising firms such as US concepts and MKTG.
Jay is currently managing/casting a project for Syco Records/Sony (Simon Cowell) and wrote and produced the song Reflection for multiplatinum Universal artist Shontelle which is scheduled to be her next single.

-Artist Project called Today Kid with songs in Verizon, Reebok and Benjamin Moore commercials.
-Co-wrote and Produced EP for Charlotte Sometimes on Sony/Atv.
-Produced and co-wrote song for Elizabeth Gillies on the Victorious album on Columbia -Managing and producing Catey Shaw.
-Jay was invited to lecture at NYU at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.
