Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats specialize in all aspects of the blues, as well as performing roots, soul, and New Orleans infused grooves.
Melanie Morrison can flat out sing. Morrison's powerful, soulful, and sultry voice can whip a barroom dance floor into a frenzy, or turn them quiet enough to hear a pin drop when serving up a soul bearing ballad. Her range and emotionality are as good as it gets. One listen and you're hooked!
Combine this exquisite talent with the well-received Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band guitarist Mark Ross's straight from the gut, honest, and tone filled guitar playing makes for some infectious chemistry. Add to that chemistry, the soulful, innovative, and sympathetic stylings of organist and accordionist, James "Rev" Harton, and watch out!
The Valley Rat's rhythm section is comprised of seasoned veterans with over 2,000 gigs under their belt repsectively. Drummer Jack Wilkinson and bassist John "JK" Kennedy lay down the perfect groove-laden floor for Morrison, Ross, and Harton to express themselves.
Although Morrison is a relative newcomer, she is more than capable of leading this cast of seasoned veterans into uncharted musical excellence.
Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats debut record: "Slow Down" is now available on the Apache label.
