A Film by a Songwriter.
Platinum Rush is about "3 minutes and 35 seconds". It’s about songs and their effect on millions. It's about the unknowns at open mic night and the mega writers of Nashville. Unlike most documentaries, Platinum Rush is an insider's look at its subject.
Scot Sax has experienced just about every side of songwriting. His songs have won Grammy's ("Like We Never Loved At All" by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw) and have appeared in blockbusters like American Pie. He performed his songs opening for Robert Plant and Allison Krauss's Raising Sand Tour and even spent a couple days with Mick Jagger while he re-mixed Exile On Main Street.
Now a professor at University Of The Arts in Philadelphia, Sax guides young, eager students in their first foray into the art and craft of songwriting. This experience has made him curious: What is their motivation is to pursue this field, against seemingly all odds? How does this motivation change as they transition from novice to professional?
In Platinum Rush, Sax talks to everyone from the delusional dreamers to the talented but as-yet-unlucky to the tried and true pros. What drives these people to keep writing ? Do they live to express themselves or is it a modern day gold rush?
