Ray Roc's Biography
Producer, Songwriter, Remixer, and DJ, Ray Roc has over 15 years of history in the music industry. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, his love for music has taken him around the world as a DJ and he has topped the charts in the US, Europe and the UK with his songwriting and productions, the "Roc" moniker stems from his original days of DJ battles and spinning Electro and Break Beats (as teenager in the late 80's) to his fellow break dancing Crew who would give him props - “Ray you Rock!”
Ray Roc has a diverse production history. He's gone #1 twice on the Billboard Radio Dance chart with his Moniker "The Roc Project" and has had equal success remixing and producing house music with various production Partners including Gabe Ramos (on Viva Music and Slip n' Slide), David Anthony (aka Roc & Soul, Black Latin Soul), Juan Kato (aka Roc & Kato), Michael Moog (aka Black Evita) Peter Presta (aka Roc & Presta) and Kevin Jasper (Producing DACAV).
In the early 90's Ray Roc’s versatility changed the traditional latin sounds of Merengue by adding Electronic Beats on the Platinum selling mega group Proyecto Uno ft. Magic Juan. Ray Roc along side of Pavel Dejesus, Nelson Zapata and Magic Juan are the original creators of Urbano Electronica formally labeled "MerenHouse/MerenHipHop". Growing up in the beginnings of Hip Hop and Techno House music Roc's unique blend of Latin Rhythms with Electronic Beats has helped pave the way to the now popular Latin Crossover.
Proyecto Uno was the first groups to incorporate Hip Hop and House Music to tropical music. Ray Says: "Proyecto Uno was an experiment among friends to take 2 sides of the planet and blend their sounds, we weren't expecting to change or invent a new genre, we were just kids who loved our Electronic House, Hip Hop and Merengue music growing up in NY. We wrote and produced songs combining our influences, which 2 decades later has hit the main stream with guys like Pitbull, LMFAO and Don Omar. Proyecto Uno where like the RUN DMC or MC Hammer of latin crossover.
BMG Publishing recognized Ray Roc's songwriting abilities and signed him to a world wide publishing deal with the help of BIG Management. He's most recognized for writing and producing the hit single "Never (Past Tense)" featuring the vocal performance of Australia's Mega Star Tina Arena. The remixing honors came from the #1 DJ in the world Tiesto, that single led to signing with Sony/Columbia (UK & Europe), and Tommy Boy (USA). The album sprung a 2nd Radio Hit Single, Déjà vu (it’s hard to believe) featuring the voice of Tina Novak and both songs landed a #1 position on the Billboard Radio charts.
