Rufus White started DJing at the age of 14 at local parties, and quickly gained a love and talent for making people dance. As his musical tastes matured, he developed a passion for Northern Soul music, and soon progressed to playing the clubs around Leeds, UK.
House music was a logical progression from these Northern Soul roots, and on discovering this sound, Rufus instantly fell in love with the genre, and embraced everything it had to offer. Rufus' technical mixing skills and track selections soon gained him a reputation within the Leeds scene. However, within a very short space of time, Rufus felt he could learn no more from Leeds, and in his constant drive to improve his skills, uprooted his life and moved to Ibiza - the spiritual home of House Music.
Only a week on the island, and Rufus managed to secure himself a residency at Moby Dick's disco bar in Es Vive, home to previous legendary Ibiza residents Graham Sahara (Pacha, Defected, Seamless, Phonetic Recordings) and DJ Gee (Founder of Bora Bora). While there, Rufus gained further notoriety by setting up one of the very first House Music podcasts, Ruforia, which got into the iTunes top 3 music podcasts within only weeks of being launched thanks to Rufus' innovative use of loops and samples to create unique mixes, each with their own mood, style and story. Ruforia is still going strong now, with a regular listenership of over 15,000 subscribers, and the mixes are regularly featured on Australian radio station ClubbersRadio.com.
Thanks to his unique and fun style, Rufus has also been one of only 2 guest DJs on Steve Boyett'sforward-thinking exercise music podcast, Podrunner. To this day, Rufus' mix The Pound is still one of the most popular Podrunner mixes available, proof that Rufus mixes music to do one thing: Move people!
2010 saw Rufus start working alongside Pacha Recordings, both as a producer and DJ, mixing many of their compilation albums, as well as touring the Pacha clubs around the world and promoting the tracks on the Pacha Recordings record label as part of the Adult Entertainment Bang Bang DJ Crew.
At the same time, Rufus started his own night with fellow DJ Trevor o'Neil at Somni (Figuretas, Ibiza), called Pegged. Pegged soon gained notoriety on the island thanks to it's philosophy of returning to the old-skool roots of clubbing - that everyone in the room is equal, and as big a part of the party as everyone else.
2011 is set to be another big year for Rufus, with further releases on Soul Shift Music and Pacha Recordings, multiple residencies across Ibiza, and tours around the world bringing his infectious groove wherever there are ears to hear it!
