Screech is a punkrock band originating from the region around Leiden, South-Holland. Screech plays a mixture of Punk, Rock and Metal inspired by bands like Nofx, Rise Against, Strung Out, Coheed & Cambria and Propagandhi.
The band is not afraid to show work within a wide range of styles and this gives, which makes their music much dynamic and diversity more dynamic and diverse.
Richy’s rock-voice screams on combined with the dynamic and complex riffs of Harvey, the steady bass of Sebastian and pounding drums of JohnnyB are the bands main ingredients. Although it’s hard to stereotype the punkrockstyle of Screech, all their songs have the same intention: to rock and make
your head bounce. Although the guys are taking things more slowly nowadays, they The guys are always looking forward to the day they can rock your city!
Back in 2003 Screech was formed by four punkguys from Holland. With the experience gained in former bands, the band members started to write new punksongs immediately. It quickly turned out into their first demo ‘Growing Pains’ which contained simple straight punkrocksongs. The influence of NoFx, Blink 182 and Greenday can be clearly heard. Alongside their first release the band started
up the local ‘BS Punkage tour’ with other local promising bands. The tour took the band along loads of local venues, and finally resulted into an invitation to a festival in Germany.
Formed back in 2003 with two lead singers and guitarists, Cleany and Richy, the band decided in 2005 to go further as a three-piece without Cleany. As a result Richy completely took over the role of lead singer, with JohnnyB doing the backing vocals. The music of Screech evolved in these years to a much more diverse style. This resulted at the end of 2005 in their second release ‘Paranoia’. Songs
like ‘yourself own’ and ‘8 o’clock paranoia’ show more diversity and complexity. Screech had grown musically and as a band, and it was this growth that put ‘Paranoia’ on a much higher level compared to their first release. The hard work paid off when the band got selected to play in bigger venues in the Netherlands like Patronaat and Bibelot. At this time Screech had built up credibility and a loyal
fan base due to their many performances in their home region.
Shortly after ‘Paranoia’ Harvey was asked to strengthen the band as the new lead guitarist. With a history of playing in metal bands Harvey took Screech with his metal riffs and solo’s to another level. At the end of 2008 Screech released their third short album ‘On the prowl’. It contained four songs
on which the metal influences can be clearly heard in songs like ‘on the prowl’ and ‘passive ways’.
Now in 2011 the band comes up with its next release. With songs as ‘Confused’ and ‘The toy room’ Screech shows a range of styles that can be found back on ‘Paranoia’ and ‘On the prowl’. Together with the launch of their new songs Screech will start a new series of rock shows. The guys can’t wait to let you hear their new material and make your head bounce once again.
