Hailing from a small area near Herscher, This Is Where You Run was formed in early summer 2009 by Kamil Bebenek (drums) and Chris Bottari (vocals). When the band was first formed there was no clear definition as to which direction the band was going however, with the addition of Nic Hayden on cleans and Tim Garrett on guitar, the band had a clearer view of what type of music they would play. The band had kicked off to a great start but had many problems soon thereafter, and a few weeks after the bands first inception Tim decided to leave due to his want to pursue a military career. He was then replaced by Jim Ulrich (ex Pray for Purity) as lead guitarist. With the addition of Jim, the band's musical direction was finally set. In late '09 came TIWYR's first song and self-titled track, however their search for a bassist was still in progress. By chance, TIWYR were lucky enough to play their song at the Korova in Morris, Illinois; although the song was performed without Nic. In early 2010, Nic decided to part ways from the band due to an undisclosed personal matter, and a couple months later, TIWYR's search for a bassist had finally come to a close as Sam Christiansen had joined the team as their permanent bassist. After Sam had joined, the boys practiced until their fingers were shredded, their throats hurt, and their ankles were stiff. On September 24th, 2010 they played their very first show as a full band, but soon thereafter they realized that something was missing, something integral. That missing link just happened to be lead guitarist Dylan Netherton (ex Pray for Purity) who joined the attack with full force. With Dylan on lead, Jim moved to rhythm to create a more full, distinct sound. The band suffered a loss when guitarist Jim Ulrich decided to part ways with the band and was soon replaced by Brad Perry who adds his own flavor to the band. This Is Where You Run is a band to be reckoned with; although they're from a small town they will get you moving. This Is Where You Run aren't your run-of-the-mill metal band that you hear every day. They keep it simple, they keep it interesting, and they keep it catchy.
